I have just gotten back from an antique fair that began this morning and runs for the next three days. It's only Friday and I am so excited about this fantastic start to the weekend! The antique fair is quite different than the brocantes I normally go to each weekend. It is a sale and showcase of the very best. I go not because I can necessarily afford to shop, but because I adore French antiques and it is such a treat to see a group of dealers and collectors that have a passion for amazing pieces.
That being said ..... meet Bernard Gillardeau. I have seen his 'booth' at several fairs. (Read--I have stood and drooled over his gorgeously amazing custom restored pieces!) Every showcase I have seen is predominantly grey in palette....be still my heart! J'adore gris!
The upholstery and finishing is meticulous. I can see his pieces filling my entire house!
Bernard is from Nantes, which is about 5 hours from where I live. We chatted, he speaks a bit of English (better than he thinks he does!) and we talked about the possibility of collaborating to get some of his pieces available in the US. It was fun to meet him and he was very kind even after he found out I wasn't a famous photographer for a splashy American decor magazine....... hmmmm....someday I will be, though..... (oh! did I just say that out-loud!?)
If you would like to see more, he has a blog of images of his pieces which you can find here.
Enjoy your Friday and have a fantastic weekend! There are two more days of this antique sale and there is also a brocante on Sunday.....S-U-N-D-A-Y.....go figure. : )
Bon weekend!

They are beautiful! Thanks for sharing~Cheers Kim
