Today was a religious (Catholic) holiday here in France. Which means that there was a mid-week {bonus} brocante! But it was actually a 'vide-grenier'--which was more of a mix of everything you can imagine with a piece of vintage here and there! Either way--a large one was just a quick drive from home and it was worth sneaking out during 'Petite-Filles' nap with the oldest-garcon in charge to check it out!
Note that almost everyone in these pictures has their arms crossed! There was a wicked wind, and although it wasn't really cold (I think it was 75F!) -- the damp coastal breeze made it feel muggy and cooler than it was!
That is about the extent of it --- not as 'picture-worthy' as I had hoped. And as far as 'finds' I almost came home empty handed. Until I saw 'her' ......
'Her' as in ..... Mademoiselle La Chaise! Sweet, non?! I thought so. To French Guy she is an ordinary chippy, old chair-- but 'pour moi' she is dainty and pretty ~ white~ with beautiful curves and style .... and I think she must have come from a petit & chic Paris apartment and somehow found her way to Normandy--to be found in an alley--at a neighborhood sale---by 'moi'!
Circa 1930's, still solid, even the caning is in great shape-- I think she is fabulous! Not just any old chair!
Still waiting for all of this wind to become an evening storm --- and it's back to a very busy, regular 'non-bonus' day tomorrow!-- Which actually is pretty wonderful too!
A bientot mes amis!
