I am fully aware that if I wait much longer my post will be entitled "End of Summer" or "September!?" After all my last post was written at the start of August just a after my sister departed ... and then came the most lovely, needed, cherished interruption of my summer plans for the next week.... . An interruption of the normal summer things ... a visit from a dear amie.
Kim arrived at Rabbit Hill on her way back from her trip to Africa. She was able to make a detour here and stay for a week. Honestly--I could post about 100 pictures of our time together--although I did hold back a bit and not shoot as many as I would have because I just wanted to soak up the time with her and enjoy days of blissful fun ... exploring my 'hood with her and showing her Normandy.
Few words could really describe how much this time meant to me. Time with an amazing woman who I am honored to call a friend and the unscheduled visit caused me to sit back---get new perspective, breath and enjoy... laugh more, stress less, appreciate and more deeply dig my heels into this place we call home.... just by sharing it.
When she arrived--first priority--good food. Followed by a bit of shopping -- mais bien sur! Deauville could not be more opposite than Uganda I am sure!
I knew she would love 'La Ferme du Château' -- a local farm with an evening market stand for fresh organic produce (and Calvados!) and a place so close to my heart.
There was brocante-ing--of course!
Daily summer markets .... and a fish market in Trouville to rival even the Pacific Northwest.
We often share the same photographer's eye ... so it was so fun to show Kim some of my favorite views.
Did I mention that we ate?! And ate.... and ate. This was from a seaside dinner where we sat until way after sun-down.
Shopping! Lots of it!
Even a bit of house-hunting---scouring the real estate mags for the 'maison de reve'...
Saying 'au revoir' was the only part that I didn't like about the visit. Not at all. Hated that part.
Summer is exploding thanks to so much sun and just enough rain! We spent more than a few evenings sitting outside ... and based on her recommendation to try out a 50mm lens for my camera--I have had so much fun capturing a few of the details!
And in the burst of creativity and motivation that hits after a fabulous time with a loved-one---I am finally shooting again and getting ready to launch a big summer's end SALE with all of the items I have found in the past few months!
A bliss-filled 'interuption'.... that wasn't an interruption at all.
Back to it now. Have been working on final versions of the amazing logo that has been created for Sunday Brocantes at Rabbit Hill and along with the new-look launch---getting things organized for a HUGE summer SALE.... playing with new lenses... and editing tons of pictures....
And...Can't believe our first group vintage shopping tour begins in less than a month! (and also cannot believe that 2014 shopping tours are filling up fast.) I promise to be back soon to share all of the details!
Until then --- Basking in SUMMER.... and friendship... and interruptions.
Hope you are too!
